Current Projects

Media and Information Literacy Short Course

Funded by UNESCO -- $30,000.

Project Lead: Dr. Evelyn Ellerman, Assoc. Prof., Communication Studies; Project Coordinator: Dr. Rory McGreal, Centre for Distance Education, Director of TEKRI and UNESCO/COL Chair in Open Educational Resources; Technical Director: Darren Harkness, Office of the Vice-President, Research).

In collaboration with Dr. Rory McGreal, UNESCO/COL Chair in Open Educational Resources, the e-Lab is using a UNESCO-developed resource to construct an open short course in media and information literacy aimed at women and girls in developing nations. The short course will be hosted by Athabasca University. –

In collaboration with Dr. Rory McGreal, UNESCO/COL Chair in Open Educational Resources and Dr. George Siemens, Asst. Prof., Centre for Distance Education, and the Centre for Learning Design and Development, the e-Lab is adapting an open graduate course “Openness in Education” for use at the undergraduate level in the Communication Studies program.
